- Lot Description
David Hockney (New York, California, England, Born 1937) "The Artist's Desk" Cibachrome print executed by the artist in 1986 after his 1984 photo collage entitled The Desk. This print was given personally from David Hockney to the famous director Billy Wilder. The piece is inscribed with a dedication to the director and his wife, actress Audrey Young, both of whom were close friends with the artist. The inscription reads, "for Billy + Audrey happy birthday 20th June 1986 love David H."
Provenance: The Collection of Billy Wilder and Audrey Young, Los Angeles. Christie's NY- June 6, 2000 Auction - 20th Century Art.
