The auction featuring items from the Saul Brandman Foundation. Sculpture in carved wood fabrication, made by the Lobi tribe. Region of origin: Burkina Faso,Africa. This sculpture is in the form of a Bateba Betise figure, which arebelieved to enhance fertility of the women in a household and are prescribed to single men to avoid sterility and to help the man find a wife. This sculpture depictsa male and female figural copulating. The sculpture itself measures teninches tall by seven inches wide by two and one-half inches deep, and the base measures two and one-half inches tall by five and one-half inches wide by two and one-halfinches deep.
