  Henry Wallis (around 1804 Great Britain - 1890 ) after William Henry Bartlett (1809 London - 1854 Malta): Washington vom President's House, 19th century, Steel engraving

  Technique: Steel engraving on Paper

  Date: 19th century

  Size: Paper: 26,9 cm x 19,5 cm (10,6 x 7,7 in), Depiction: 17,9 cm x 12,3 cm (7 x 4,8 in)

  Description: Inscribed lower left "W.H. Bartlett", inscribed lower right "H. Wallis". From a balcony the viewers look towards Washington, which is located on a hill in front of the viewers' point of view. This is presumably the "White House", whose function it was in the years 1790-1800 and where George Washington also lived for a time.

  Condition

  Good condition. The corners are bumped, isolated pale discolourations in the area of the margin. Reddish discolouration in the area of the lower left margin.
