Size: Paper: 7,4 cm x 11,0 cm (2,9 x 4,3 in)
Description: Inscribed "F. v. Deschanden pinx.", "C. Strunz del. Carefully designed votive card with embossed and punched lace frame. In the centre the depiction of Mary with the infant Jesus on her lap, in front of her the boy John, around whom she has protectively put her arm. Votive cards or votive pictures, not infrequently artistically designed, are votive offerings and thus objects that are publicly offered on the basis of a vow or betrothal as a thank-you gift for salvation from hardship, danger, illness, etc. The small-format votive cards usually contain a small devotional picture and are designed with elaborate ornamentation.
