Description: The engraving shows a portrait of the German writer and moral philosopher Christian Fürchtegott Gellert (1715 Hainichen - Leipzig 1769), who was considered one of the most widely read authors during his lifetime. The portrait in the centre of this engraving is a mirrored copy of the oil painting by Anton Graff.
