Technique: Copper engraving on Paper
Inscription: Signed on the left below the print "F. Overbeck inv." and on the right "A. Forberg fc.", inscribed below with: "Jesus. der göttliche Kinderfreund. | JESUS L'AMI DES ENFANTS". Dated with monogram "FO" in the image.

Description: The German painter Friedrich Overbeck (1789 Lübeck - 1869 Rome) is considered one of the most important representatives of the Nazarene art movement in the first half of the 19th century. Following the credo of the artists called Nazarenes by their contemporaries, Overbeck was particularly concerned with religious painting in the style of the German and Italian Renaissance after Raphael da Urbino and Albrecht Dürer. This depiction shows a Jesusu raising his hands surrounded by a group of children in the landscape.

Good condition. The corners of the sheet are bumped. A crease runs lengthwise across the lower right corner of the sheet. The sheet margins have short tears and are foxed in places. A crease can be seen running horizontally across the centre of the sheet. The print appears fresh.Condition
