Other Notes: Grogan & Company thanks Mayen Beckmann for her assistance in confirming the authenticity of this work. She writes, "this is an early original cast. This cast, as all casts of this sculpture, was commissioned by Mathilde Q. Beckman after the death of Max Beckmann. There is no cast done during Max Beckmann's lifetime, as he died only shortly after he had finished the work. This cast will have the number 2 in a future Catalogue Raisonne."
