This is a very rare sterling silver Georg Jensen food warmer on stand with burner and with ebony handles, design #1065 by Soren Georg Jensen from 1958. This piece is made up of several elements –
Sterling silver stand: Measures 3″ in height and 5 3/4″ diameter (7.6cm, 13.7cm). The stand is a cylinder pierced on opposite sides with circular holes to give access to the burner.
Sterling silver burner: Measures 2″ (5cm) in height, the burner is spherical, the base has an indent that fits securely onto the stand, the lid is also a snuffer and is removable. Two opposing stems each from the burner and the lid protrude through the holes in the stand, for insertion/removal of the burner. Under the lid, there is another removable lid for filling with fuel and wick.
Sterling silver casserole with ebony handles: Measures 5″ in height and 7 1/8″ diameter at widest part (12.6cm, 18.3cm). The casserole stands on a circular foot which fits snugly into the stand. There are two circular ebony handles on opposite sides, the lid is heavy and has an internal ebony handle.
Hallmarks: Marked underneath with Georg Jensen hallmarks from 1945-1977 and tiny import marks used in The Netherlands from 1953. The hallmarks indicate that the piece was made sometime between 1958-1977.
