Painted paper collage Artists: Anika Banerji, Teddy Benner, Fiona Cobb, Jack Conn, Bridget Cunningham, Kareena Desai, Eila Gupta, William Heitzenrater, Aarav Jain, Jasper Lee, Ava Lien, Laavi Mehta, Naomi Nusbaum, Lucas Simon, Lucas Smith, Alexa Sugarman, Isabel Vasquez Through books like "The King of Colour, ""When Pigasso met Mootisse," and "Henri's Scissors," our classroom was mesmerized by the artwork of Henri Matisse. We were inspired by his bold colors, representations of nature, and his later work with cutouts. Our piece is a tribute to some of these cutouts, especially "Icarus" and "Blue Nude Skipping. " For our version, children first used a pencil to trace one another onto large pieces of paper. Then the pieces were painted, cut out, and assembled into one figure. The end result is a mash-up of many different members of our class as a singular artist.
