Mixed media weaving (13 ½ x 18) Artists: Hunter Bullen, Zayn Edakkoth, Moira Fischer, Ever Gilhool, Amara Gupta, Marcella Insana, Arya Kostamis, Savannah Lin, Amalia Pappalardo, Ella Perez Kilpatrick, Ariana Razavi-Hayward, Brody Schiffman, Delaney Slough, Daniel Smith, Lily Smith, Stephen Wells The weaving is an abstract landscape inspired by James Weldon Johnson's evocative and inspiring lyrics in the song "Lift Every Voice and Sing" (the Black national anthem). The children learned and began singing the song in January: Let our rejoicing rise High as the list'ning skies Let it resound, loud as the rolling sea? The long process of allowing each child to contribute to the many textures and colors of the weaving celebrates the beauty of community and of imperfection.
