A Jean Puiforcat (1887-1945) Sterling Silver Flatware Service in the Cannes Pattern, Designed ca. 1928, Comprising of ten dinner knives, eleven dinner forks, ten table spoons, ten soup spoons, ten salad forks, ten dessert spoons, ten luncheon knives, ten butter knives, sixteen cocktail forks, six dinner spoons, three serving forks, one serving spoon, one cake server and one serving knife. Hallmarks: Puiforcat maker's mark 1897-1945 and the French Silver Export mark 1879-1973.
Total approximate weight: 161.85 troy oz.
Note condition: three salad forks slightly smaller in length and one table spoon lightly damaged. Surface wear and scratches throughout set. Unpolished. Please find below a detailed report of each grouping.
1. Dinner knives: minor dent to one handle and slight surface scratch to another handle.
2. Luncheon knives: minor dents to one blade; slight surface scratches to one handle; areas of minor tarnish; and very small dent to one handle.
3. Butter knives: minor dents to a few blades and slight upward bend to the blade of one.
4. Table spoons: one spoon slightly misshaped at top; small, minor dent to one handle; and a small dent to the bowl of one spoon.
5. Dinner spoons: one spoon is slightly more angled, possibly bent.
6. Soup spoons: small, minor dents to the lip of one.
7. Dessert spoons: minor dent to spoon near handle and slight change to angle of one spoon, possibly bent.
8. Dinner forks: surface wear throughout.
9. Salad forks: three salad forks are slightly smaller in length.
10. Cocktail forks: one minor dent to handle.
11. Serving items: surface wear throughout.
