Rolex's Submariner is one of the most popular and desirable watch models ever made. Introduced in 1953 as a tool watch for serious divers, its' meaning has changed over the decades to be the standard for men's luxury watches. This change happened gradually as taste shifted from dress watches towards a more sporty style. The ref. 1680 was introduced in 1969 as the first Submariner with a date function. The date opened the watch up to be a good everyday piece, suitable for dress or casual occasions and became the go-to timepiece for a generation. The present example is from 1977, one of the final examples to be produced with the classic acrylic crystal.
ConditionDial is in excellent condition. Case is very good, with signs of polishing and wear to the case back. Bracelet is slightly stretched. Movement is running at time of cataloging. Overall, the present example is in very good condition.
