Facsimile reprint. The New York Morning Post. Vol. III No. 155. New York: Morton and Horner, 7 November 1783. 4 pages, folio, disbound, 10 13/16 x 16 in.
A 19th-century facsimile reprint of the New York newspaper printing of George Washington's farewell orders to the Continental Army. After the Treaty of Paris, in which Britain officially recognized American Independence, was signed on 3 September 1783, Washington disbanded his army and gave a farewell address on 2 November.
Original printings of the paper are exceedingly scarce. The popularity of Washington's address inspired several reprintings. This copy is one of those reprints.
