M1860 light cavalry saber. Clayville, New York: D.J. Millard, 1862. Ricasso obverse stamped: "D J Millard / Clayville N.Y." Ricasso reverse stamped with the inspector stamps of Charles E. Wilson: "US / C.E.W. / 1862". Blade 34 3/4 in. Overall 42 in.
Complete in scabbard, a fine example of the M1860 Light Cavalry Saber under the contract of D.J. Millard of Clayville, New York. This model was much lighter than the M1840 'Wristbreaker'. This contract was for 10,000 swords, one of the smallest contracts the government made.
