- Lot Description
Often very fine modern Tabriz carpets mimic the dome and squinch pattern of Persian mosques, as here with a very finely woven example with a radiating 24 point round medallion, reaching out to an encircling set of 24 pointed irregular pentagons. At each field end, the architectural spirit continues with arched, pointed sky blue panels and smaller demi-triangular motives. Black border of long cartouches and octogrammes. Fine condition. Totally classical Islamic decoration.
