Robert Gottlieb Collection2023 - Shchukin Gallery Rosalia Rabinovich (1895 - 1988) was a Soviet painter, graphic artist, stage designer, and teacher, as well as a member of the Union of Soviet Artists. Born in Kyiv to the artist Moisey Rabinovich, she studied there, and later attended the studio of decorative arts led by Aleksandra Ekster from 1918 to 1919. Rabinovich was part of the artists' and writers' group "KHLAM". Later she studied at Vkhutemas from 1919 to 1925. Besides painting, she also worked in industrial design and poster art. Since 1928, she became a member of the ROSTA (Russian Telegraph Agency) group. From 1929, she worked at a textile factory. During 1940?1943, she worked with the theater artists' brigade in Ashgabat. In the postwar years, she taught at the Pioneer Palace and the Moscow House of Architects.This is an original artwork for a poster promoting Soviet workers to take vacations in Sochi, a popular resort destination on the Black Sea.
