A pupil of Fernand Cormon and Jules Adler, Jules Rene Herve moved to Paris and began to exhibit at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1910, Jules Rene Herve received a silver medal in 1914 and a gold medal in 1925. Then Jules Rene Herve divided his life between Paris and his native city of which he painted, with a light brush, expert in small bright flashes on greys or ochres skilfully distributed, the humble and picturesque events, the portraits of his austere society with a monotonous and hushed existence - But Jules Rene Herve knew just as well how to restore the lively atmosphere of Parisian life and its monuments or the dancers in the foyer of the Opera -From his finely observed compositions emanate delicate feelings - Appreciated by French and foreign amateurs, Jules Rene Herve devoted himself to his art throughout his life - Jules Rene Herve is considered "the last of the Impressionists"
