Jonathan Green (American, b. 1955). First Sunday. Color lithograph. Edition 118 of 250. Signed lower right in pencil and numbered lower left. Measures 18.75 in. high x 18.5 in. wide (with frame 38.25 in. high x 36.75 in. wide).
Condition: In apparently excellent condition. No apparent problems to note. Not examined outside of frame.
Born in 1955 in South Carolina, Jonathan Green is best known for his depiction of everyday life of the Gullah people and the rural inland marshes and surrounding islands of South Carolina. He graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1982. His work has been featured in traveling exhibitions throughout the US and in 17 museum exhibitions. Noted art critics consider him one of the most important artists of the southern experience.
