BID ON THE-SALEROOM
Two late 19th century pique tortoiseshell brooches. To include a circular-shape brooch with star accents, together with a domed brooch with oriental bird and foliate border. Diameter of brooches 4 and 3.8cms. Total weight 17.7gms.
This lot is in good to fair condition, with scratches, dints and tarnish to the metal surface in keeping with age and wear. There is a surface reaching crack to the reverse of the birds of paradise brooch, running across two-thirds of the reverse. The tortoiseshell has dried out a little to both brooches and lightened in colour slightly as a result. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
