Two early 20th century ivory necklaces. The first designed as sixty-two graduated spherical ivory beads with an ivory twist clasp, the second a single-strand ivory bead necklace. Lengths 44 and 61cms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Graduated ivory beads measure 6.8 to 15.9mms. ITEMS INCORPORATING MATERIALS FROM ENDANGERED AND OTHER PROTECTED SPECIES. Prospective buyers are advised that several countries prohibit altogether the importation of property containing such materials, and that other countries require a permit (e. g. , a CITES permit) from the relevant regulatory agencies in the countries of exportation as well as importation. The sale of ivory, tortoiseshell and other materials derived from endangered species is limited by CITES regulations to 'worked' pieces dating prior to 1947, and the export of such pieces outside the EU would require an export licence to be obtained from DEFRA. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
