BID ON THE-SALEROOM
CARLO GIULIANO - a late 19th century 18ct gold reverse-carved intaglio bumble bee, amethyst and split pearl brooch. The circular reverse carved intaglio, depicting a bumble bee, within a circular amethyst cabochon and split pearl surround. Maker's mark for Carlo Giuliano. Diameter 2.5cms. Weight 8.3gms. With associated case.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. There are some areas of discolouration to the back surround. Slight scratches to the reverse carved intaglio in places. The amethyst are well matched, typical inclusions visible with magnification. The split pearls are well matched and in good condition. Maker's mark slightly worn but legible. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones. Pin tests 9ct gold.
