An open face alarm pocket watch. Silver case, hallmarked Birmingham 1885. Unsigned key wind full plate fusee and chain movement with verge escapement, pierced balance cock and alarm complication. White enamel dial with Arabic numeral hour markers. 53mm.
Movement is currently functioning. Alarm function appears to be working correctly. Movement has scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with general wear visible to the naked eye. Dial appears to be in a very poor condition, none of the original detail is legible. Dial displays numerous heavy cracks that run the entire length and width of the dial. There are areas where the enamel has completely chipped away in large sections. In these areas it looks as though the underneath surface has been painted white and then the Arabic numerals reapplied. For example at the 1 and 6 o'clock hour markers. Hands show marks and tarnishing with discolouration to the luminous paint. Glass has some scratches and marks when viewed under a 4x loupe. Case shows noticeable scratches, marks and dints. This lot does not come with box or papers. Fellows do not guarantee the working order or accuracy of any lots sold.
