BID ON THE-SALEROOM
An Edwardian silver christening mug of plain and slightly tapering form, with personal engraving and a 'C' shape handle, hallmarked Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1907. Together with a 1930's silver mug of baluster outline to a skirted base and with later personal engraving, hallmarked F C Richards, Birmingham 1935. Respective heights measure 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm) and 4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm), weight 14.68 ozt (456.7 grams). (2).
Both mugs display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with their age and use. Some quite heavy tarnishing is visible to both and they would benefit from a clean and polish. A few shallow dints to both and areas of heavier scratches and nicks. Seam lines visible to the Edwardian mug. The base of the handle of the 1930's mug is compressed slightly so that a slight indentation is visible to the interior. The hallmarks and maker's mark appear quite worn on the 1930's mug but they are still legible. The hallmarks on the Edwardian mug are clear and legible. - Shipping Info
