An early twentieth century silver inkstand of elongated oval form with reeded rim and raised on four bracket style feet, the centre fitted with an oval glass ink bottle with conforming reed border to the circular hinged lid, hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd., London 1910. Together with a silver capstan inkwell with removable metal ink pot, hallmarked Birmingham 1919. Maximum length of first inkstand measures 10 1/4 inches (26 cm), base diameter of capstan inkwell measures 5 inches (12.7 cm). (2).
Both inkstands display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing in keeping with their age and use. Minor dints and bumps to both. Hinged lids appear in working order. Likely replacement baize to base of capstan. The hallmarks to the earlier inkstand are clear and legible, also matching clear hallmarks to the silver neck and lid of the glass ink bottle. The hallmarks on the capstan inkwell appear quite rubbed and worn but still legible.
