An early 20th century reverse-carved intaglio and gem-set brooch. The circular-shape rock crystal, reverse-carved to depict a woman on horseback, with mother-of-pearl back, to the rose-cut diamond and oval-shape ruby spacer surround. Diameter 2.9cms. Weight 7.5gms. With case.
Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear to the mount. Some discolouration to the reverse of the mount. The rubies have a medium pink hue, well saturated matched. Minor surface scratches and nibbles to the facet edges. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. The diamonds are drawing a slight yellow hue, some have incurred small nibbles and chips. The intaglio crystal is in good condition, a small amount of dirt has got behind the mother-of-pearl ground. The pin is slightly bent out of shape.
