An early 20th century platinum and 18ct gold seed pearl, diamond and emerald wreath brooch. The seed pearl circle, with circular-shape emerald and old-cut diamond inner and outer haloes. Estimated total diamond weight 0.25ct. Diameter 2.2cms. Weight 5.5gms. With fitted Carrington & Co. case.The piece is accompanied by a letter, dated the 12th of July 1943, from the Evans-Lombe Family, stating that the brooch was presented to Nellie as thanks for her nine years of service to the family at Marlingford Hall before she was called up for her wartime duty.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Slight dent to the side of the piece, at the clasp, appearing slightly misaligned in profile. Small repairs, slight discolouration. Seed pearls untested for natural origin. Seed pearls approximately 3.3mms diameter. Seed pearls differ slightly in shape with well matched colour and lustre, slight internal cracks to some, general slight wear. Diamonds well matched. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Emeralds are a fairly well matched deep medium slightly bluiosh green hue.
