An early 20th century gold amethyst and aquamarine fringe necklace. Designed as a graduated series of oval and circular-shape amethyst bars, each with seed pearl surmount and grooved line separator, alternating with oval-shape aquamarine and scrolling link spacers, to the trace-link back chain. Length 39cms. Weight 16.2gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Possible repairs/alterations. Seed pearls untested for natural origin. One seed pearl with slight wear to the outer nacre layers. Amethyst are a well matched medium deep purple hue, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions. Aquamarine are a well matched light greyish blue hue. Stones in good to fair condition with minor abrasions. One aquamarine with chip. Few aquamarine with minor nicks. Length of gem-set section 20.3cms.
