An early 19th century gold amethyst and split pearl necklace and matching brooch. The necklace designed as a foil-back pear-shape amethyst and split pearl foliate drop, to the similarly-set scrolling links and fancy-link back-chain, together with matching brooch. Length of necklace 39cms. Length of brooch 4.6cms. Weight 17.6gms. With fitted case.
Overall condition fair to poor. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear. The two small drops are possible replacements, with replacement amethysts. The back of the brooch is significantly dented, with areas of discolouration and soft solder. Some more significant scratches to the back of the scrolling links of the necklace. Some replacement gemstones. The foil backing of many has deteriorated and faded in colour some to more of a pink tone. Some of the amethyst is pale purple with a weak saturation of colour. One of the replacement amethyst has patchy colour and the and is significantly chipped. Split pearls fairly well matched, blisters and blemishes to some. The chain is significantly tarnished in places. The box is scuffed, discoloured and damaged in places. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
