An 1930's silver cigarette case, of bulging rectangular form having engine turned panel exterior with initialled cartouche and opening to reveal a gilt interior, hallmarked Mayes, Mills & Co., 1936, length measures 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm). Together with a 1940's silver compact of square form having engine turned exterior to the whole and with gilt thumb piece opening to reveal a fitted mirror and power tray to interior, W G Ltd., Birmingham 1946, length 3 inches (7.5 cm). Weighable silver exclusive of compact 3.16 ozt (98.4 grams).
Each in fair condition. Cigarette case with general light rubbing, wear and signs of tarnishing to exterior, and with wear and marks commensurate with use to gilt interior. Compact with few dints, knocks and tarnishing to exterior, cover is fairly stiff to open but hinge is in working order, mirror in good condition and with power residue to interior. Hallmarks to each with slight wear however still legible.
