A William IV silver snuff box of rounded rectangular form with reeded sides, the hinged lid opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior. Hallmarked Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1830. Measuring 5.5 cm by 3.5 cm, weight 29.8 grams.
The snuff box displays some general wear, tarnishing, surface scratches and marks in keeping with the age and use. There is heavier wear around the edges and to the corners, which now appear very rounded. Considerable loss of detail to the decoration on the lid and base and it now appears in a worn and rubbed condition. There is a an area to the centre of the lid where the decoration has completely worn away. Minor dints and some heavier scratches and marks. The hinged lid appears in good working order and the gilding to the interior appears ok. The hallmarks are clear and legible, some slight rubbing.
