A turn of the century Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders dirk by R & H.B. Kirkwood of 66 & 68 Thistle St Edinburgh, the triangular blade contained in a leather scabbard applied with thistle mounts complete with companions knife and fork, rising to the throat further mounted with the Cameron Highlander's badge and the basket weave carved and studded wooden hilt with quartz terminal. Maximum length measuring 17 inches (43 cm).
Please note since publication of the catalogue, the description has been updated, the terminal is quartz, and appears to be foil backed, therefore possible rock crystal rather than citrine. In very good overall condition. The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Maker's mark only to the reverse of the throat mount and appears partly worn. No hallmarks. Companions knife blade marked J. Mearbeck. Blade facetted to one side. Slight chip and losses to the wood close to the terminal.
