A small continental shell dish raised on three stylised dolphin feet and having a figural mount modelled as a cherub playing a cello, likely Hanau psuedo-mark and also stamped 800, maximum length measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm). Together with a small candlestick also decorated with a stylised dolphin stem, appears unmarked. Gross weight of dish 7 ozt (217.7 grams).
Both pieces appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing. The interior of the dish appears gilded but this is now a little discoloured around the edges. There appear to be remnants of gilding to the front lower legs of the cherub so it is possible that the whole figure was once gilded but it has now worn away.
