A selection of three similar Indian pandan or betel boxes, comprising an octagonal example set with an array of vari-colour cabochons to the hinged cover, the enamel surround with blue outline, pink and white floral sprays with green leafs, the sides alternating with similar decoration and various animals, the underside and inner cover with conforming radiating floral engraving. Together with a similar example depicting various birds within oval cartouche to the octagonal sides and a third elongated smaller box set with a garnet cabochon to the hinged cover and the sides alternating with scenes of birds. The larger boxes measuring a maximum width of 6 cm and the smaller example 3.5 cm. Gross weight 195 grams. (3)
The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor losses to the enamel on the first example, Losses and fractures to the enamel on the second box and some noticeable losses and repairs to the enamel on the small box . Gilding to the interior worn to parts. Cabochon settings distorted to parts. All test as silver. Underside somewhat concave to the second example. The stones include foil-backed paste, split pearl, garnet and sapphire.
