A pair of Victorian grape scissors in King's pattern with engraved crest and reeded, oval form finger rings. Hallmarked to the blades Elkington & Co (Frederick Elkington), Birmingham 1875. Length measuring 7 3/8 inches (18.8 cm).
The scissors display general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. It is unlikely that all parts are silver as the handles appear unhallmarked. Parts of the blades are base metal or steel as there are areas where this is showing through. There is also some damage to the silver on the underside of the circular pivot. The tips of the blades are a little rounded or blunt. The scissor action appears to be in good working order. Residues of polish to the hallmarks but mostly legible.
