A mid Victorian gold emerald and split pearl pendant. The foil back square-shape emerald and split pearl cluster, within a cannetille surround, suspending a fringe. Registration mark for 8th December, 1854. Length 4.6cms. Weight 3.3gms.
Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear. Scratches, dents and areas of discolouration to the reverseEmeralds medium green, fairly well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions, visible with the unaided eye. Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Wear visible to the settings. Split pearls well matched and in good condition. Some areas of gapping and wear to the tassel links. Possibly originally an earring, pendant loop added later. Tests 18ct gold but believe to be 9ct gold with 18ct gilding.
