A mid 19th century gold multi-gem cross brooch, circa 1840. Designed as two crossed lines of various foil back gems, to include hessonite garnet, emerald, amethyst, garnet, cat's-eye chrysoberyl and further gems, with chain detail. Length 3.5cms. Weight 5.5gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Replacement base metal pin. Gems are foil back, most with some deterioration to foil backing. x medium x, well saturated, with x clarity and typical inclusions. Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
