A mid 19th century garnet brooch. Of oval outline, the cushion-shape foil-back garnet, to the circular-shape foil-back garnet surround with entwined rope-twist and cannetille detail. Length 4.3cms. Weight 9.6gms.
Overall condition fair to poor. Lead solder and discolouration to top and reverse of brooch. Section of rope-twist border deficient. Brooch fitting deficient.
