A mid 19th century diamond reverse carved intaglio memorial brooch. Of circular outline, the reverse carved intaglio, depicting armorial insignia, within a foil-back rose-cut diamond and oval-shape sapphire surround. Diameter 2.1cms. Weight 7.8gms. With associated case.
Overall condition good. Surface scratches in keeping with age and general wear. Intaglio containing a lock of hair. One stone deficient. Some of the diamonds and sapphires with surface abrasions. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate and full colour and clarity assessment. Please see important notices for purchasers in our catalogue and online for coloured gemstones.
