- Lot Description
BID ON THE-SALEROOM
A mid 19th century 18ct gold gem-set foil-back brooch. Of openwork design, the pear-shape foil-back pink topaz, with foliate cannetille surround, to the similarly-set beryl and foliate cannetille sides. Length 5.4cms. Weight 8.1gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and small dents in keeping with general age and wear. Small areas of repair/restructure, visible to the back. Later fittings. Some possible replacement gems, one of the circular and oval-shape gems appears light pink, the others appear yellowish green. Deterioration to the foil backing. Gems well matched. Stones in good to fair condition with mostly minor abrasions, some small nicks. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
