A matched pair of early twentieth century Scottish silver candlesticks, each with a stepped and filled square base rising to a tapering column and vase shape socket with circular removable nozzle, decorated with stylised foliate scroll motifs throughout. Hallmarked Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh 1901 and 1917. Maximum height measures 12 1/4 inches (31 cm).
The candlesticks appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor dints and bumps, heavier around the bases. Some minor splits/holes at some of the corner joins. The nozzles are quite a tight fit, especially on one of them. The hallmarks are mostly clear and legible, quite rubbed on one of the bases. Clear full hallmarks to nozzles.
