A late Victorian silver mounted playing card box, the wooden oblong body with cribbage board to the hinged cover surrounding a bevelled glass frame enclosing a printed playing card and with three peg markers. Hallmarked Hilliard & Thomason, Chester 1897. Maximum length measuring 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm).
The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Lid Mount slightly aligned to one side. Slight nibbles to the glass. Hinge in good working order. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
