A late Victorian silver cruet stand for five bottles, having central baluster stem leading to a scrolled handle and the whole raised on four similar scrolled supports with shell feet, monogrammed cartouche to the front, with five glass bottles having varying silver mounts. Hallmarked Martin, Hall & Co (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall), Sheffield 1896, three bottle mounts hallmarked Birmingham 1895/6 with maker's mark 'HM'. Maximum height to handle measures 9 1/2 inches (24 cm), weight of stand only 16.98 ozt (528 grams).
The lot appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Ring marks caused from contact with the bottles are visible to the stand and the underside is heavily tarnished. Two bottles with glass stoppers. Two with removable pierced lids and these are quite a tight fit. One with hinged lid but missing condiment spoon. Some minor chips and nibbles to glass. The hallmarks are mostly clear and legible.
