A late Victorian 18ct gold opal and diamond cluster ring. The oval opal cabochon, within a rose-cut diamond surround to the trifurcated shoulders and plain band. One diamond deficient. Hallmarks for Chester, 1897. Weight 4.4gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Diamond fairly well matched. Diamonds fairly bright. Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Opal is worn, scratches and abrasion to opal surface. Opal has a white body colour, with green, yellow and red flashes of colour Stones in poor condition with significant abrasion, chips and nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
