A late Victorian 15ct gold gem-set ring and a later 15ct gold split pearl brooch. The ring designed as three oval-shape foil-back garnets, with split pearl highlights to the engraved band, the brooch designed as a crescent moon and star set through out with split-pearls, to the curved bar sides. The ring with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1878. Length of brooch 4.2cms. Total weight 6.1gms.
Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear. Garnets medium to dark purplish-red, well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions. Split pearls well matched to each item. Split pearls to the ring, creamy-white and silvery light grey, with muted lustre, showing some heavy abrasion and peeling. Split pearls to the brooch, creamy-white with some pink overtones and fair lustre. Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
