A late nineteenth century Eastern European egg ornament on stand, applied decoration of twin opposed female heads, each surrounded by leaves and the hair as flowing scrolls, with further foliate decoration and opening to reveal two geese, on a foliate scrolled tripod stand. Both egg parts struck 84 alongside a further indistinct mark, the base of the egg also struck 1886, the stand appears unmarked. Maximum height with stand measures 4 3/4 inches (12 cm), gross weight 6.31 ozt (196.2 grams).
The egg and stand display some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Minor dints. Would benefit from a clean and polish. Fits together well.
