A late 19th century ruby brooch. Of circular outline, the oval-shape ruby line and foliate motif, raised to the geometric border and double rope-twist edge. Diameter 3.6cms. Weight 12.6gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Top of the floral motif has some scratches however these are well disguised as part of the design, possibly where someone has removed black enamel. Pin slightly bent. Rubies medium pinkish-red, well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions. Stones in good condition with minor abrasions. With safety chain.
