A late 19th century gold split pearl and diamond brooch. Designed as a rose-cut diamond and graduated split pearl shield, to the axe terminal, with split pearl collet accent. Length 4.8cms. Weight 6.7gms.
Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Small crack to the tapered terminal. Diamonds fairly bright. Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Split pearls have a white/grey body colour and chalky lustre. Split pearls in a fair condition with nacre damage. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
