A late 19th century gold diamond brooch. The old-cut diamond oval panel, within a cannetille scalloped surround, suspending an openwork panel and beaded drop. Length 5.5cms. Weight 10.2gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Localised scratches and discolouration to the back of the openwork panel, and one bead deficient. Small areas of soft solder repair. The openwork panel and drop has been later added. Diamond bright and lively. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. The reverse glazed panel can be removed and is lined with purple cloth, and has a delicate beaded boarder. Possible replacement pin.
