A late 19th century gold diamond and ruby bar brooch. The old-cut diamond marquise-shape panel, with alternating oval-shape ruby and old-cut diamond line sides, to the knife-edge bar. Estimated total diamond weight 3cts, H-J colour, SI2-P1 clarity. Length 6.8cms. Weight 8gms.
Overall condition good. Surface scratches and small areas of discolouration in keeping with general age and wear. Small areas of repair, possibly replacement stones to the marquise-shape panel. The rubies range in orangey to purplish-red hues, well saturated, with light surface scratches and nibbles to the facet edges.
