A late 19th century gold and silver opal and diamond pendant. The vari-shape opal, old and rose-cut diamond openwork panel, with similarly-set drop and surmount, suspended from a later rope-twist chain. May be worn as a brooch. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.85ct. Length of pendant 5.8cms. Length of chain 43cms. Total weight 16.1gms. With fitted case.
Overall condition good. Minor scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear. Surmount and brooch fitting removable. Opals replacement. Opals well matched for play-of-colour. Opals white in body colour with good to fair iridescence showing a range of hues. Opals in good condition with some minor surface abrasions. Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. Diamonds well matched to each cut . Diamonds bright and lively. Light and dark coloured inclusions can be seen with magnification. Diamonds in good condition with minor abrasions. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate and full colour and clarity assessment. Chain with applied plaque marked 15ct.
